Soughton Hall Wedding Photography – Faye & Antony

May 7, 2017

Soughton Hall Wedding Photography | Faye & Antony’s wedding day started for us with a journey over the Welsh border to photograph their beautiful spring wedding at Soughton Hall, Mold.

Soughton Hall Wedding Photography | The windscreen of our Mini was frozen, and we were shaking off the aches and pains of the party the night before. The clocks had gone forward and stolen an hour of our sleep, but we were so excited to be shooting at this fabulous new venue, we hardly noticed.

Soughton Hall is tucked away down a country lane near Mold and Connah’s Quay. It’s a beautiful part of the world which brings back endless childhood memories, and from the first sight of the property down it’s long, tree-lined driveway, we were in love.

Soughton Hall has a lot of enviable original features, and somewhere which has been on our wish list for wedding photography for a while. This includes a mixed architectural style and layout, that feels like the evolution of a large family home rather than a show-house. The original servant’s bells are still in place in the main house. Quirky, unusual outbuildings litter the estate just begging to be photographed.

We met Faye as she started her bridal prep upstairs at Soughton Hall. The atmosphere was fun and manic as hair and makeup began.

We took Faye’s dress for walk to photograph it in all its glory. We chose the ceremony room for this, as were just in love with the doorways. Faye also told us that one of the reasons she chose the venue was because of the ceilings, so we managed to include some too 🙂

I headed off to a hotel to meet Antony, before returning to Soughton Hall to meet the guests arriving and chatting in the ever-increasing sunshine. The temperature had risen to twelve degrees by the time we arrived back at the hall, a great sign of what was to come later in the day.

The ceremony in one of the upstairs state rooms, was beautiful, intimate and full of love and laughter. After Faye and Antony became husband and wife, we headed outside for drinks. Games were mid-flow with the four flower girls and one page boy, and confetti by the gated entrance to the house. It was a perfect spring day. We headed out around the back of the house to the beautiful rustic gardens it could have been early summer. Faye mentioned she loves daffodils. Luckily they were at their peak in the gardens around Soughton Hall. We photographed them around the daffodil-lined grounds, and inside to the corridors of the old house, before heading back to the party.

Faye and Antony had hilarious games lined up in the lounge. We had a great time photographing their antics before the wedding breakfast was served.

The evening reception was held in a marquee in the gardens. Antony had surprised Faye with a singer for entertainment. After dancing, laughing, and partying the night away, we all headed outside into the freezing night with sparklers as one last celebration of Faye and Antony’s wedding day.
