Old Hall Hotel, Buxton Wedding Photography – Mel & Francis
We seem to have been spending a lot of time in Derbyshire lately. From the beautiful reservoirs, rocky outcrops of The Roaches, to the stone-built charm of Buxton, we’ve had an amazing time in this county. Mel and Francis asked us to photograph their relaxed, fun and personal wedding at The Old Hall Hotel, and we had an absolute blast.
Old Hall Hotel, Buxton Wedding Photography | We started in the morning, drenched by downpours on the way to Melanie’s mums farmhouse. We were welcomed into the hustle and bustle, the happy tears and excitement. I left Katie to work her magic and started the drive to Buxton to meet Francis. While I was gone, a starter of cake followed by pancakes made for a hearty breakfast at the farm house – next time I’m sticking around!
After some final preparations and last-minute googling of tie knots, Francis was ready. Melanie had left a series of letters and presents in the kitchen, and the final moments before leaving for the ceremony were spent reading the heartfelt sentiments and opening thoughtful gifts surrounded by family.
We headed over to The Old Hall Hotel where guests were arriving, and waited for Melanie to arrive. Melanie and Francis saw each other for the first time in an ante-room, before walking down the aisle together and into a wonderful ceremony where they each recited their own personal vows to each other.
The Old Hall overlooks a park, and that’s where we headed next. Melanie changed into her wellies, and basket in hand, we headed over to the pond to feed the ducks. Wandering the park was wonderful, finding spots of pretty light, before we were engulfed in a heavy downpour. We shot through the worst of it, before running for cover into the old Buxton Pavilion. Full of exotic plants, an indoor pond full of fish, it was the perfect refuge from the storm. There was an opportunity to make some portraits with these two, so we took it before we headed back to the wedding breakfast.
We saw a break in the clouds appearing, and we watched. We waited. And we hoped. And then it happened all very quickly. A beautiful shaft of sunlight descended on the park, and we ran over with Melanie and Francis to take full advantage of the sunset for some portraits.
When we returned, things were in full swing to start the dancing. After their first dance, a barn dance started, and everybody got involved as we chased the action around the dance floor.
A sausage sandwich later, we returned to the dance floor for one more round of dancing before leaving this incredible party full of love and good friends. Thank you SO much for choosing us to photograph your wedding. It was such a pleasure to be involved, and such a beautiful day xxx
