Malham Cove Pre-Wedding Shoot – Amy & Marc
We googled with our freezing fingers afterwards, and there are ‘around four hundred irregular stone steps’ leading to the tops at Malham Cove. We’d certainly agree with the ’irregular’, but we’re pretty sure they missed a zero off their count. It’s a LOT of steps.
So, why the punishing hike, weighed down with 20Kg of bags, through the mud and up a limestone cliff in the Yorkshire Dales? Because, it WAS USED IN HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS!! Yes, it’s the limestone pavement used as one of the filming locations. When we crested the final set of steps, mud-splashed and freezing, it took our breath away how unimaginably gorgeous this place is.
Amy and Marc are getting married at one of our favourite places, Rivington Hall Barns near Chorley, later this year. Amy’s about as big a Harry Potter fan as we are, and was dying to come to Malham for their pre wedding shoot.
So, we booted up, put on our finest waterproofs, and started the walk to the top. These two laughed all the way round. They told us all about their wedding plans, the romantic candle-lit atmosphere they are going to create, and about their incredible USA adventure honeymoon too.
We reached the top just as the sun was setting behind the clouds. It was so peaceful as we climbed the limestone, and googled the exact spot of the filming location too. It was an incredible location, perfect for these guys and their adventurous personalities. It was also another Harry Potter location ticked off our bucket list, and well worth the drive and hike.
Thank you SO much for being amazing, fearless, and knowing how to find the car park again in the pitch black. Without you we’d literally have to live by a random river in Yorkshire forever. Enjoy your blog and roll on May 🙂 xxx
