Lytham St Annes Pre-Wedding Photography – Karis & Jake

Jun 27, 2018

Karis and Jake wanted somewhere with parkland and gardens, trees, secluded enough that they wouldn’t feel super-awkward, but accessible enough that we didn’t have to drive for hours to find it. Our home town of Lytham St Annes has the perfect spot, so we headed to the beautiful Ashton Gardens one sunny friday evening for their shoot.

Ashton Gardens is one of those places on our doorstep that we walk past all the time without giving it a second thought. It’s just there. We used to walk in there, wander by the ponds, feed the ducks, and make some pictures way back when this was just a hobby for us. It’s so amazing to revisit with fresh eyes, and make a shoot there all these years later.

We started by the entrance gates, and the cafe building, with it’s timber-clad exterior and verandah, perfectly side lit by the setting sun. Karis and Jake were super-nervous at the start of the shoot. But after a little wandering, chatting, hanging out in the rose garden and meeting the local ducks, they relaxed superbly. This is the main point of the pre-wedding shoot; the experience. How often does anybody, ever ask a photographer to follow them round for the day? It’s a bit weird if you think about it. The pre-wedding shoot is the best way to get into the swing of this, get rid of the nerves and not-knowing-what-it’s-going-to-be-like. So, when it comes to your wedding day, you can just relax, have an amazing time, and not worry about what we’re up to as we scurry about capturing the day.

We can’t wait for Karis and Jake’s wedding later this year; hit play or scroll below to check out what we got up to 🙂
