Great Hall at Mains Wedding Photography – Val & Neil
Great Hall at Mains Wedding Photography – Val & Neil; From the moment we met Val and Neil, we knew their wedding was going to be something amazing. They are one of those couples that we instantly connected with, and who we really got to know during their pre-wedding shoot at Stanley Park in Blackpool. We love this part and the build up to the wedding day, and it really does help to shake off those initial nerves in front of the camera!
They chose the Great Hall at Mains in Poulton, Lancashire for their venue, and what a stunner! It was the first time we have been here as wedding photographers, and it offers such a variety of original features, inside and outside areas to really capture the feel of a wedding day here. There is a wonderful house attached to the hall, with beautiful gardens, and stunning interior filled with original features and a modern twist. This offered a spacious and luxurious base camp for Val and her bridal party to get ready during the morning, and to really enjoy Val’s last night before her wedding day. Neil got ready at home with family, including ‘The Girls’ – their chickens which James had fun trying to get to look the right way!
After an emotional morning all round, Val and Neil got married in the beautiful beamed hall. The hall is lined by huge windows, and a candle-lit fireplace centrepiece, which created a romantic, intimate yet grand feel to this heartfelt ceremony. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, and we all felt the love from these guys.
The rest of the day was relaxed and laid back, just like Val and Neil. The perfect country-feel of the afternoon with guests enjoying the sunshine and gardens was just divine. The wedding breakfast was catered by Twelve, one of our favourite restaurants on the Fylde Coast. We were very happy indeed to be treated to three courses to help fuel us through until the evening, and it was exceptional as always from this talented team.
We took Val and Neil round the grounds twice for some portraits and alone time. The first time, just after they were married was the ideal opportunity for our couple to escape with their pre-ceremony nerves just calming down. Later on there was a sunset over the Lancashire countryside, so we just HAD to capture this stunning light for them. How amazing do these guys look as the sun dipped below the roofline of Mains Hall? We LOVE when we get to use that narrow window of opportunity when the light is just perfect. It’s unrepeatable and there’s just something magical about being out in such amazing conditions. As wedding photographers we’re always looking to capture some of that magic.
Val and Neil’s first dance? Well, you could say they’d been practicing a bit! Let’s say they’ve set rather a high bat for out 2016 Brides and Grooms to try and follow. This pair impeccably Tango’d to a wowed audience, before the party really got going.
Here are some highlights from the day xxx
