Browsholme Hall Wedding Photography – Shelly & Mark

Jan 12, 2018

Planning a wedding in the UK is an exciting, sometimes stressful experience. You only get to do this once, right? But planning this once-in-a-lifetime UK celebration from literally the exact other side of the world, is a serious feat. That’s exactly what Shelly and Mark managed to do from their New Zealand home.

Browsholme Hall Wedding Photography | So, a few weeks before their wedding, after the Skyping, emailing, messaging and more, Shelly and Mark were sat in our lounge. Actually real-life-people, chatting over the big day with a brew. It had seemed a long time since their initial booking, and we had a lot to catch up on. Their wedding was at the fabulous Browsholme Hall in the Ribble Valley. It’s a place we’ve visited many times before, and always manage to find something new and unique to photograph there.

When the big day finally came, we started the morning at Browsholme Hall in one of the cottages. Shelly was getting ready with her bridesmaids in the kitchen. I headed off to meet Mark at his Dad’s house over the hill, and the prep began. Nerves ran high in both locations, and closed roads on the journey to Browsholme added more drama to the morning.

We arrived to a beautifully presented Tithe Barn at Browsholme Hall where the ceremony took place. As Shelly arrived, the guests were in awe. After photographing their emotional, heart-felt ceremony, we headed outside to the courtyard for drinks, and lawn games on the grounds began too.

We took Shelly and Mark away for a breather around the grounds. They’re extensive. There’s woodland walks, a boat house and lake, a full working farm, the actual original Browsholme Hall and landscaped gardens. More than we can explore in our short time there anyway! We shot some portraits around the grounds before heading back in to the wedding breakfast. But we couldn’t resist another opportunity when we spotted a glorious sunset emerging over in the direction of the farm.

We’ve never been up that way before, so we rushed headlong into the fields. Shelly and Mark are NOT afraid of adventure, and as Mark said very memorably, ‘I’d rather have to clean muddy shoes and have pictures which last a lifetime that miss this’. So we went for it. Up to our ankles in mud, chasing that wonderful light before heading back down to the party.

Our good friend and all-round amazing DJ Gary Mills was set up to take us into the evening, and we danced the night away in this incredible place. We know the stress you endured planning this wedding from the other side of the world, and we can’t thank you enough for trusting our creative vision to capture your wedding day.
