Blackbrook House Wedding Photography – Ali & Tom
Derbyshire has been a place of new discovery for us over the past year. And it’s becoming one of those places we cannot get enough of. Blackbrook House was a new venue for us to photograph here, and we couldn’t wait to explore somewhere new.
Blackbrook House Wedding Photography | We met Ali & Tom for the first time on their pre-wedding shoot at The Roaches. If you’ve never been, it’s a fabulous formation of rocky outcrops in the middle of the Derbyshire countryside. Let’s just say we’re hooked on the epic scenery around there.
So, when it came to their wedding day and another chance to travel to this incredible county, we were more than super-excited. Blackbrook House is nestled in the Derbyshire countryside. It’s one of those fantastically imposing country houses you never want to leave. We started the day with Ali, getting ready in one of the bedrooms. The feel isn’t that you’ve just stepped into a wedding venue. It feels like you’ve wandered accidentally into the most fantastic private house. And that you’re actually supposed to be there. It’s wonderfully luxurious, comfortable, spacious. It has such a variety of wonderful indoor and outdoor spaces, we hardly knew where to start.
I then headed off to meet the guys, and in fine grooms-morning form, they were just heading to the pub. We spent a few minutes with drinks and a few laughs, before heading to Blackbrook House to get guests arriving and check on the setup for the day. There were personal details everywhere. From the personalised letter held in the spool of the vintage typewriter by the door, all the way through the most incredible cake display in the wedding breakfast room, and the signing board made from a gorgeous rustic piece of burl wood which will make a fabulous keepsake from the day.
The ceremony was accompanied by musicians, and after Ali & Tom became Mr & Mrs, everyone headed around the rooms of the house for drinks.
We took a few minutes out to take Ali & Tom around the grounds of Blackbrook House for some portraits. The trees were just starting to turn an autumnal brown. The leaves made some amazing sense-of-place details which we love.
After a stunning wedding breakfast and speeches, the party kicked off, accompanied by a super-talented bank who played us through the evening. Everybody was up and dancing, and we shot like house elves desperate for a sock until we couldn’t move our legs around this gorgeous country estate any more.
