Ashfield House Wedding Photography – Rachel & Liam

Oct 28, 2018

From the moment we arrived at Ashfield house, Leanne Amanda and all the staff welcomed us like family. We could tell from that moment that Rachel and Liam’s wedding day was going to be nothing short of the perfect relaxed family-oriented emotion-feat we live for. Let’s say we weren’t disappointed.

Ashfield House is a beautiful venue in the most unexpected of places. Driving past sleepy cul-de-sacs of bungalows in Wigan, you’d hardly know there was anything there at all. The little turn sign for Ashfield House reveals the property, which then extends and extends with beautifully private gardens to the rear. Once you think you’re there, you then see the full extent of it, a wonderful stone patio to the rear, elevated above lawned gardens, surrounded by walkways and with a bench in the perfect spot under a tree. Rachel & Liam’s wedding was our first time here, and we really hope we can come back soon!

We met Rachel and the girls getting ready in the morning, in one of the sitting rooms. After nerves, laughter and a couple of tears, it was time to walk down the aisle. The ceremony room is a light, airy contemporary-yet-classic space in keeping with the building, and the vaulted ceiling makes wonderful light that’s a joy for us to work with. We love it! After Rachel & Liam became Mr & Mrs, it was time for drinks and canapés on the patio.

Rachel & Liam were kind enough to share a bit of wedding planning advice with us - here’s what they recommend :)

Buy everything as soon as you can. That way you don't feel the hit all in one lump sum and you can make sure it all arrives on time if ordered online.

We chose the venue due to it being just love at first sight. Small enough that no one gets lost and no room feels empty, but big enough that no ones stepping on each others toes. “

Rachel & Liam had more than a few nods to Star Wars, with a Han-and-Leia-topped cake (modified to have a bouquet and veil of course) and an entrance to the wedding breakfast to the Imperial March. Rachel and Liam had planned a wedding packed full of personality, fun, laughter, and everything we love.

We managed to get a few moments of golden light later on for some portraits; so we dashed for the trees, walked through the crunchy leaves to find the perfect spot, and let these two have a few minutes alone together.

We finished the night with sparklers and dancing, and pizza from two wood-fired ovens on the patio. It really was a spectacular party and we are SO happy we got to be involved.

We LOVED being involved in our first Ashfield House wedding! If you’re planning a wedding at Ashfield House, make sure you get in touch. We’d love to go back and be involved in your big day :) You can find some more information about our wedding photography and film packages here.
