Antigua Destination Trash The Dress Shoot – Roxie & Mark
Antigua Destination Wedding Photography – Trash The Dress Shoot in Nelson’s Dockyard with Roxie & Mark
So, we woke up sore, aching, and ever so slightly hung over from Roxie and Mark’s incredible beach wedding in Antigua. We hung around the pool, recovered slowly with the help of a seemingly unending supply of lime-and-soda from the bar, but we were determined to go out for one more shoot before we left this stunning island. We’d never done a Trash The Dress Shoot before, so we were excited to make use of the stunning scenery to ensure we captured something really special for Roxie and Mark, who trusted us implicitly to make something awesome for them.
Carribean destination wedding photography | Waterproof gear for the cameras, swimming gear for us, and a slightly nervous looking Roxie and Mark in hand, we drove down to the south of the island late in the afternoon. After some exploring near Nelson’s Dockyard, we found a little beach near the harbour which faced the open sea. Our couple wandered down the beach, and stepped into the water as the sunset colours began to emerge.
The waves crashed into shore, Mrs F stood knee-high in the incoming tide, and I laid down in the shallow(ish) water for what I imagined would be a relatively stable position to shoot from the water.
Wow was I WRONG! The force of the waves washed me constantly into the sand, I swallowed a LOT of sea water and sand, and kept almost knocking Mrs F into the water, her unprotected camera dangling precariously above the increasingly turbulent water. Roxie and Mark were truly amazing through all this, nothing fazed them, and between Katie keeping it together from dry land, and me half-drowning myself from the sea bed, this is a shoot that will stick in our memory for a long time.
